Never leave children alone in a parked car, not even for a minute.

Every year thousands of kids are left in hot cars, sometimes with tragic consequences. A parked car can become 20-30 degrees hotter than the outside temperature. Even on a mild day a car can quickly become unbearable for a child.

What’s happening at Kidsafe SA?

Each year, at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, millions worldwide pause in silence to honour the sacrifices made by so many for the lives we cherish today.

This Remembrance Day, we pause to reflect and pay tribute to those who served, sacrificed, and gave their lives in service and help keep their legacy alive.

Lest we forget.
Leaving children unattended in the car, even for a short time, puts young children at risk of dehydration, heatstroke, overheating, and suffocation, which can be very dangerous or even fatal. 🥵
The temperature inside a parked car can get 20-30 degrees hotter than the outside temperature, with the majority of this increase in temperature occurring in the first 5 minutes ⌚️

It is NEVER worth the risk.

November 10th -16th 2024 is National Recycling Week.

DID YOU KNOW? About 1.4 million child seats, capsules, and booster seats are sold in Australia every year. Over the same period, 200,000 child restraints will end up in landfill! 😵

Child restraints are made up of many different materials – rigid plastic, metal, and fabric – all working together to provide a comfortable and safe restraint, however, they can be recycled! ♻️

If you have an old or damaged restraint, you can bring it to the RAA Child Safety Centre at Mile End, and they will recycle it for a small fee. 👍
