infants, children and young people and road safety conference

The NSW Chapter, in partnership with the Australian Transport Safety Bureau, and with the support of the Motor
Accident Authority announce a conference on "Infants, Children and Young People, and Road Safety",  to be held at the Parliament House Theatrette, Macquarie Street, Sydney 2-3 August 2007.

The Australasian College of Road Safety 2007 conference will focus on reflecting the inaugural 2007 UN Global Road Safety Week theme.  Australian and New Zealand youth representatives attended the World Youth Assembly in Geneva in late April 2007, and it is planned that the outcomes of the Youth Assembly will be reported and discussed at the conference.

The primary objectives of the conference are to:

- Review indicators and trends in injury involving infants, children and young people
- Examine the current research into aspects of road safety affecting infants, children and young people
- Explore projections for the future development of the road transport system and the likely impacts on the safety of infants, children and young people in all areas of road use
- Discuss possible strategies for enhancing road safety for infants, children and young people, now and into the future
